Garriga
i Bachs Square was opened in 1929 and it is situated in the heart of the
Gothic Square which is one of the oldest neighbourhood in Barcelona. I'm
sure the Roman walls were very close. There are very important streets passing
by. Carrer del Bisbe where there is one of the doors who get inside the
cloister of the cathedral.
There is a beautiful sculpture worked in bronze which is the job of J.Llimona
and Vicenç Navarro beside four pictures made with mosaics. There
the author explains the history of the people represented on the picture.
This sculpture was done to thank all the people from Barcelona who died
while defending their city against Napoleon troops. This was happened during
the reign of Ferdinand VII in 1809.
It is a square everybody looks at and people want to know who the author
was and what it represents. The cathedral is near and that gives the place
a good atmosphere.
