Square
Goya or Sepulveda Square

There is a big monument to Fransesc Layaret (1880-1920), a well known worker's lawyer, slain by gunmen, was erected by a citizen's subscription in the convulsive year of 1936. It has a socialrealistic style . It was dismantled by Fraco's authorities because it represented a lack of the artistic sense of the separatist reds and a shame for good barcelonians. It was restored after the death of Franco in the same place.
This monument was made by the sculptor Frederic Mares i Deuvol
The materials used are bronze and stone.
It is situated in the left side of l'Eixample. I like so much this square because is very calm and I go there all Saturdays with my parents and they read the special magazine of El Pais. Sometimes I go with my friends because we can talk a lot. I like this square!
