Sant Josep Oriol

This square is in the gothic neighbourhood, situated next to the "Plaça del Pi". Before s.XIX it was a little parochial cemetery but it became a square because the important coronel ordered to take it to the center of Barcelona because the cementery smells very bad.
In the sites where was the cemetery put some squares and neighbourhoods. Near this side there the church of Santa Maria del Pi. This church was build between 1305 and 1391 and has got a spectacular .

In front of the church there are houses in which popular industries like chair-makers have settled. Now, in the Saturdays and Sundays morning a fair of fifty artists settles who expose and sell their pictures. Street musicians and artists are placed by the seat to also show their art.
