Plaza del Rei is a really a great work of architecture. It used to be a romantic place when the municipal band conducted by Lamotte de Grignon used to give concerts. There used to be a fountain but it disappeared in 1930's and nobody said anything.
Chillida has a sculpture in this square that makes it beautiful. The camera is not good enough to show the magnificence of this place . It's beautiful, romantic, peaceful and a great place.
This square is the finest urban unit of the old Barcelona. We can see the façade of the Palau Reial Major, Capella Palatina and the Palau of Lloctinent.
At one time when they were excavating the area, a cemetery from Christian times was found. It is nice going to listen to some music there and there are many people who go and try to play their music there and sometimes beside Chillida's sculpture.
