In the square George Orwell
there's a reproduction of a monument dating from 1935. This surrealist-inspired
work is composed of a closed cylinder with a metal line that is wavy at
first then circular and crowned by a spheric shape. This sculpture was
done in an effort to dignify the space gained by the demolition of a building,
giving way to a new square that was baptized in 1996 with the name of
George Orwell, author of Homage to Catalonia.
The Town Hall and the Generalitat
of Catalonia are trying to rebuild and repar this area of Barcelona which
was forgotten and now looks much more nicer.
