This building was thought
to be built in 1890 to make more agile the transacts of Barcelona's
port. The building lasted six years, from 1896 to 1902.
The architects Pere Garcia and Enric Sagnier had the ideal supposed
route for the merchandise to agile the expedition. The building has
a H form so that the goods could get in and out through the courtyards
situated at both sides.
It's situated in the "Portal de la Pau" square, almost touching
the sea. At about a hundred meters far from Colon's statue. In the summer
it is a very visited site since a lot of touristy buses have a bus stop
there.
More than one tourist stops in front of "Duane" and take a
photograph.
Now, the building, is the general direction of the harbour or New "Duane"
where transact all information, invoices, etc.
The truth is that even not being a tourist attraction, I always go for
a walk passing it. I can't avoid to watch the building. It has its own
charm.
