Façade

Name of house: Casa Cerdà
Address: Consell de Cent 340
Architect: Antoni Valls Galí
Building date: 1862-1864

The first Cerdà buildings are situated on the corners between Consell de Cent and Roger de Llúria Streets. It was the first construction in the Eixample, built between 1862-1864 designed by Antoni Valls Galí. Before, there were four houses but one was knocked down in 1960. One of these houses, the one situated at 340 Consell de Cent street has in the facade a lot of symmetrical scratch works. These ornaments are trees, angels and mythological characters. The exterior is now new and you can see these pictures. In the facade there are many special balconies. The balustrades of these balconies are in the marc of the window so the facade is completely plain; Except for the central balcony. I like this house very much because when I see it I think about former ages, in the beginning of Barcelona and I remember when I was a baby because I used to live near there. These houses are really beautiful due to the government campaign of Barcelona Posa't guapa.
